WHAT IS THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM?
 
The Career Development Program is a joint effort between United Steelworkers (USW), U.S. Steel-Fairfield Works, and Fairfield Southern Company.  This program is designed to provide represented employees with basic skill, technical and personal development training.
 
WHO DOES THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SERVE?
 
All members of United Steelworkers Locals 1013, 2122, and 2210.  This program was established to help represented steelworkers reach their educational, training, and personal development goals.  In addition, some instructor-led & multimedia courses are also available to retirees as well as spouses and dependents (ages 14-25) of represented workers.
 
WHAT SERVICES DOES THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OFFER?
 
 HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE? 
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!  The Career Development Program offers its services to all elibigle active represented employees FREE OF CHARGE!
 
THEN HOW IS THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FUNDED?
 
The Career Development Program is financed by a contribution from U.S. Steel & Fairfield Southern Company in the amount of .15 an hour for every hour worked by an eligible employee as defined in the agreement between United Steelworkers, U.S. Steel, & Fairfield Southern Co.
 
WHO FINDS OUT WHETHER OR NOT SOMEONE PARTICIPATES IN THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM?
 
Participation in the Career Development Program is voluntary, confidential, and totally separate from any work performed for U.S. Steel or Fairfield Southern Co. It is the decision of the participant to determine who they tell they are participating in the program.
